Default how to get true hd and dts hd

i have a Sony BDP-S300 blu ray player is it possible for me to get a reciever that will play true hd and dts hd and if so what kind.

not with the s300.

You can get Uncompressed PCM audio tracks, but because the player has no internal decoding or bitsream ability of TrueHD and Dts-HD MA...you cannot get those two formats.

(but upgrading the receiver is still a good idea, because you might have a player later on that can)

i am a little confused as to what pcm is also does the 399 ps3 decode true hd if it does ill be a lil upset that i paid the same amount for a worse blur ray.

yes the 40GB can decode Dolby TrueHD...

is it too late to return the s300?

ya its to late, but i can always upgrade inn years to come and use this blu ray for another tv, as far as pcm goes, what is the difference between that and standard dolby digital, i have 40' w series sony and i want to get a sony receiver what would you recomend, i appreciate your help by the way

dont forget, you can always use the S300 for Uncompressed PCM tracks...do you have an old school (non-hdmi) receiver?



as far as Sony Receivers...the lowest I would go for is the Sony STR-DG910 ($430)

...but for that price you should just get the Onkyo TX-SR605 ($400 +free shipping)
