Default Does Sony still make XBR's?

Is Sony still making the XBR line of HDTV's?

Or is the "Class" the new line?

I'm confused.

For a 52" which is the best Sony LCD HDTV route to go?

thanks in advance.

Ahhh. when is the 55" XBR 8 coming out?

Do you think that maybe a DLP is a good option?

the prices on those has come way down, I noticed.

Sony 2008 XBR line-up are only in 32 and 37 inches. Their top tier TV that replaced the XBR in the larger sizes is the Z series TVs. The model number is KDL-40Z4100. I also believe it is only availiable in 40 and 46 inches.

Hope this helps. The Z series is a beautiful set. Its also slimmer than most LCDs.

I stand corrected then. I was not aware of the newly announced xbrs.

Ok, so they aren't making anything larger then 46" ?

Also, are the new sets still featuring the "floating glass" display, that bordered the tv?

Wrong....The new XBR line will be released later this year. They will have a 40", 46", and 52" of their XBR6, then a 40" and 70" of the XBR7, and their new LED backlit which are 46" and 55". The 55" is expected to be $7-8k.

dlp makes a nice picture, but the viewing angle is horrible...biggest perk imo to an lcd is the 180 degree angle....with dlp you have to be sitting right in front of it to see the clearest picture.

i think design wise the xbr8 is a step backwards.....black tv with 2 silver strips on the left/right...xbr5 was a very unique display....xbr8 doesnt look as good...but i guess we'll see how the PQ is soon.

I'm curious how much the XBR6 52" will go for?...I've been waiting for awhile to purchase a new LCD and i was looking into buying a sony next weekend. Now reading this i'll just have to wait a little longer. If it stays within the $3,000-$4,000 price range i might go for it...or just a little lower to the 46".

The XBR6 will not be any more expensive than the XBR4 or 5 were. I would expect $3500-$4000. The XBR8 will run more because of the LED backlight

Kind of. The XBR6 will still be a small amount of glass on the bottom of the TV above the speakers on the XBR 6, but the XBR 7 will still have a small glass trim on the top and bottom, with floating glass and speakers on the sides. Like a previous poster mentioned, there will be the XBR 6, 7 and 8, in sizes from 32 to 70. The XBR6 will be in 40, 46 and 52.

Here's a good place to read all about the new series: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-9961157-1.html

BTW: 52" XBR6 will start at $3999 list price, I work in an electronics store and we have them in our system, just can't order them yet because they haven't been released.
