Default CORPORATE GREED.....and the consumer.

It just goes to show you HOW GREEDY CORPORATIONS ARE, when it comes to money making:

1) They hook you in with mass marketing

2) They tell you what you should be buying and when, then dangle it in front of you.....for weeks, and weeks...only to PUSH back the release dates (because the product wasn't street ready in the first place!)

3) Then, forums like this discuss the products (in anticipation for months)....Until they realize, that they can charge you any price that they want, because they know you "Have to have one" (brainwashing)?

4) Then the problems occur, so they issue a quick fix (firmware upgrade). OVER, and OVER, and OVER, again....

5) Then....Just when you are FINALLY contempt with your purchase.....Uh......Umm......OH!? a "NEW MODEL" comes out!!!!

Don't get me wrong folks, I love my beautiful electronics (sooo shiny!), but I must admit that this GETS ME EVERY TIME!!!.......

Thoughts anyone? (please post here)

ok, I'll bite. Just remember this much. This type of business stimulates the economy which keeps a strong dollar.

While I HATE how movies are announced a year in advance, this creates a buzz. Products announced so far in advance is to create a "mind share". "Mind share" products don't put money in the bank as much as they might stop people from buying the competitor product. "I'll wait for the better one."

Firmware is a double edged sword. Sure, it took longer for DVD to come out because they needed to have the firmware right. From there on, it was up to the studio to make sure their DVD's played. Today, studioes can fudge the blu-ray disc a little because the firmware will catch up.

I wish I could flash the firmware for a number of things I own. With those older products you are just stuck with how they work. Period.

Better not buy anything then. We need more people like you to lower demand. That will drive prices down for the rest of us. Consumer Electronic companies are trying to make money. They are not the Red Cross or American Cancer Society.

DVD had it's fair share of trouble ... Buggy FW , trouble when DL disc when first appearing for certain model (toshiba, people had to send the player to the CE for them to flash it), incompatibility with certain disc.

So cheap player today even have trouble with menu or playback of Branching disc ...

Do you think a small family owned business down the corner can produce a PS3, or an Onkyo 805?

I stated this in the "Samsung Exec says BD only has 5 years left" forum. I'm also a living witness when it comes to PC gear - I'm through trying to keep up, I'm just trying to stay close now ! And Asus - you may have lost a sure customer - because now you are releasing the Xonar card when the Azunetech card comes out - my sound is so good right now - I might just stay with my analog-ins from my computer to my receiver! The game wears out after a while!!!

I'd rather have FW updates then not. Its the lazy way the company's do things now...they should not be able to produce stuff , throw it out in the world , then "fix" it every month with a FW update...I'm all for the upgrade FW like on the PS3, & how we have got great new features. Its just the fact that players (or what ever) will not work like there 'said' to do....that ticks me off
