You do not necessarily need an HD receiver to watch a Blu-ray movie in Hi-def. However you might want to consider a receiver that decodes all of the audio formats of Blu-ray in order to enjoy the full listening experience. Do you have an HDTV? |

We can see the benefit of 1080p+ on a 24" computer monitor over not seeing one on a 32" set? He always has the option of moving his chair to view 1080p on a small TV. Screen Size/Distance/Resolution. How close or far you sit from the screen is an important part of the PQ you get to see from your set. Some Relevant Info Quote:
1080p is 6x over DVD and will have better PQ over 720p provided that contrast, color and the rest of the system is up to par. Last edited by U4K61; 01-12-2010 at 04:21 PM. |

720p is HD as well, even if some people will try to tell you differently. ![]() With time you can upgrade your HD experience. You might want to go for a 5.1 or even 7.1 speaker system in the future. Having surround sound instead of your TV's speakers will probably improve your enjoyment more than getting a 1080p display. And then yes, you'd need an AVR. ![]() Enjoy your Blu's!
