Lebowski- damn right its on there.

I was glad to see LOTR Fellowship higher than the other two. I have always felt, personally, that it was the best of the three despite being rated lower on sites like IMDB.

I see where you are confused this list contains actual movies with plots and stories and acting not massive amounts CGI and gun fire and explosions that pass for a movie today

Umm... Really....? I guess my interests in movies like Crash, Batman begin or The prestige doesn't count as actual movies with "plot and stories and acting", huh? Get off your high horse. Just because I don't like some of those movie on the list doesn't mean I don't enjoy movies with great storyline.

All of these movies are on the list. Just not in the top 50. Lists are never going to make everyone happy.

Godfather II out of the top three is a disgrace. It is simply better than the original, though that is still a masterpiece.

My first, second, and third problem, ect: 41. The 400 Blows (Truffaut, 1959)
42. Kind Hearts And Coronets (Robert Hamer, 1949)<<<those two movies ahead of Gladiator, Braveheart, and Amadeus????BTW I am not crapping on Jason's thread, since it makes for good discussion.

I've seen this list before... and I think it voids itself by having Evil Dead 2 at 49. It was a fun movie and all, but top 50 of all time? Above Gladiator, Cool Hand Luke, or any of at least 50 others I could name, from any decade?

I'm glad to see Donnie Darko as #53. I also find it interesting to see which lists have Alien or Aliens as the better film. I have them tied on my list

The idea of picking a list of the greatest movies is pretty silly. Naturally, we all have our biases and limitations. I can't even pick a list of my 100 all-time favorite movies, not to mention how to rank them. The point is that they are all great movies. Enjoy them and stop paying so much attention to stupid and meaningless numbers and rankings.

Here is a list of other organizations' best movies for your enjoyment and argument.
