Default Problem on Panasonic BD30

I have had the BD30 for close to a year now and haven't had a problem playing anything... I just picked up CAST AWAY Blu ray disc. I got half way through the movie and it started freezing and wouldnt play any further. I shut off the player, took out the disc and reloaded. I tried to go back to the same spot and it did the same thing again. The disc is brand new- no scratches- nothing. Any idea what the heck could be causing this? I installed the latest firmware with no problems but the movie still wont play right once it hits that point. The BD30 has played everyting fine up until now. Any ideas??? Is it this particular title? i dont get it.

I'm running the latest firmware that i downloaded from this site yesterday (Oct 4). I'm still in shock that my BD30 actually came to a disc that it has a problem with. Any ideas?

Even though there are no scratches or imperfections on the disc, are there sometimes errors internally on blu ray discs that would cause this?

An imperfection & write error not seen by the naked eye could be present.
If you just bought the movie, exchange it.

Exactly. Ive gotten a couple from Netflix that were fine but would not play. Simply mailed it back for another copy and the second played fine.

Even blu-ray replicators can burn coasters

Are Blu Ray's burned as opposed to being stamped (like commercial DVD's are)?

No, they are pressed, I was just being funny. Its just a less perfected and more involved process than dvd.

Go here: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/c...0/bd30_na.html

Follow the downloading instructions and update your BD30 to 2.5. It is very worth it! DVD upconversion is improved significantly with FW2.5.
