Default 'Watchmen' fiasco settled???

Have WB and Fox reached an agreement over the rights to producing the 'Watchmen' graphic novel as a feature film? If not, Warner Bros. may be digging themselves a deeper hole as they have released this new poster onto the net yesterday!!!

Being the optomistic type, I hope this is a good sign regarding the legal battle.

The two things that I like most about that poster are:

#1. THE DATE!!! They would have released this poster without a date if the legal issue wasn't at least on the verge of being settled.

#2. THE R RATING!!! That just means a ton of good for this content... not necessarily so much for the box office take... but still, !!!

This will never see the inside of a courtroom. Two greedy movie studios fighting over a couple millions dollars in front of a jury of average middle class folks struggling to get by ... pfft neither one of them will win.

This might just be the first R rated comic book movies that actually break some records.

I think criminal cases get jurys, this would be a lawsuit so only judge.

I just finished the novel this morning (read a chapter every morning after work). Can't wait for the movie. Going back and watching the trailer makes more sense, now.

10 to 1 they'll settle pretty soon. This movie will rake in the money.

You mean like that other R rated comic book movie released in the same time that broke (and still holds) opening weekend records for both the month of March and Spring in general?

I think Warner/Fox would be ecstatic if Watchmen can equal the BO of 300 let alone surpass it. Right now I'm not sure if it can. It does look extremely promising though.

This will of course be settled. Do not be surprised if the lawsuit quietly goes away, and within a few months you hear an announcement that Fox is releasing the Adam West Batman series on DVD. Long story . . .

Even if Fox gets the rights to release the Batman TV series from WB it will probably still be a few years before we see it. Fox still have to get consent from every person that was involved in the show. Actors, extras, make up people, costume people, etc. The contracts and releases from the show were only for airing the series on TV, not releasing it on video, so Fox has to get every ones consent again.

No easy task.

But that is not what is holding things up. Warner Brothers owns the rights to the character of Batman, and Fox has been battling them for some time to get clearance. There has been much speculation -- and I admit that it is speculation -- that this dispute is what is behind the Watchmen suit.

The rights to release the Batman TV series on DVD is what is stopping Fox from releasing the classic series.

Speculation Fox is holding up Watchmen is to get those rights from WB.

But like I said above, even if Fox gets the rights, it's only one piece in the puzzle because they still have to get every one that was involved in the shows consent before they can release.

I wonder if they're going to show the entire Rorschach's psycho analysis with him remembering brutally killing the child molester's dogs. All I can say is that I can't FREAKING wait for the movie. I'm a bit sad that there will not be any squid monster........oh! well!!!!
