On the PS3 I play Inverted/Regular - Blu-ray Forum

Just wondering what you guys choose. I'm the only person in my entire group of friends that plays inverted. I think it's because of too much Wing Commander and other flight sims back in the day that makes me think that inverted is the only way.

Regular for me. I think that people who play inverted played a lot of flying games. For me, playing inverted, is like using the restroom upside down.

Depends on the game, I've noticed some games switch regular to what inverted is, and inverted to what regular is. If I hit up on the stick it should go up, if I hit down on the stick it should go down.

a good friend of mine is just like you. he played so many flight sims back in the day that he inverts his up/down controls for first person shooter. i have no idea how you can aim like that!

It's the way you think about it. Pulling back on a stick is like leaning back and that makes you look up. Pushing forward leans you forward and you look down.

I used to play inverted, but now play regular. It works so much nicer that way.

At first I played regular, and I sucked really bad. I kept thinking up was down and down was up. I was about to give up on FPSs and then my brother showed me a nifty little trick called inverting, and I have been addicted to the genre ever since.
(By the way, I have never played any flight simulators, so I have no idea why my natural inclination when it comes to FPSs is inverted, it just is.)

Wing Commander FTW!

I play inverted because that is, indeed, how flight controls are... You do not push forward on the stick and go up, you point the nose down when you push forward on the stick.. By pulling back on the stick you point the nose up, therefore go up. This is just mapped over a joystick controller and whammo. It's not weird, its how flight controls actually work. If a regular player and an inverted player were thrown on the spot to jump in a jet to take on the enemy, a lot of you would be diving into the ground to your death!

I play inverted, and I'm one of the few I know who do. I didn't really play flying games, but this is how I think of it... try to follow this logic...

Imagine the analog stick is a person. The piece you rest your thumb on is the person's head. If you push it forward, the person is looking down... if you pull it back, the person will look up. I guess that's how I think of it... pushing forward will make me look down... I'm not thinking of the actual direction I'm pushing the stick.

Interesting thought, but this is how I look at it. Left analog is person. Right analog is person's eyes. Push up to look up, push down to look down.

I can use either, but I prefer regular. I just stick with default, unless the game is retarded and switches halfway through (forgot which game did that, but it was the stupidest thing ever).

That's how I've always looked at it. I originally played inverted for everything, but after a break from gaming (I'm casual, not hardcore) I can't play inverted now, so either my brain "fixed" itself or it crapped out completely on me.
