Default panasonic bmp-bd-55 trouble

I have pan bmp-bd-55 that will not display a picture when i hook it up to my onkyo tx-sr 705 (hdmi) all i get is colors scrambled but the sound works. If i hook it directly to my tv it will work fine. I just can't figure it out!

Have you tried directly connecting the player to the TV. If it works that way, then it may be the HDMI port on the receiver. Maybe try a different cable as well, you could have a broken wire or two on the HDMI cable. Another possibility is that the player is set up to display RGB or 4:4:4 colors, and your TV can't handle it. Maybe resetting the player would help.

Make Sure the HDMI video out is tuned on, on the receiver.

Yeah, I didn't mention any settings on the receiver, because I'm not familiar with the settings on it. Hopefully, someone with a 705 will speak up to help as well.

Itried switching cables that didn't work. If I hook straight to the tv it will work. I have the correct hdmi in assigned to the dvd player. I have tried the other hdmi ports and that doesn't work either. My old sony upconvert player with hdmi out will work. The new dvd player is set to 1080i which is my tv highest setting. Also my dish with hdmi works just fine. Could it be the pan 55 signal has a capatability issue with the 705?

This is almost certainly a problem between the Onkyo 705 and the BD55. It sounds like you are feeding a signal that the AVR can't handle. While you may not want to do this, you need to consult the manuals for both devices. The answer is likely there. Or, you can wait for someone with a 705 to come along and explain what you need to do. But, that could mean waiting for awhile. This forum isn't all that active.

I just downloaded the manual, so I'm kind of shooting in the dark here. But on page 95, it talks about xvYCC color output. This may be set to on in the receiver. I would check to see if it's off or on. If it is on, turn it off.

Also, check on pg. 47 of the manual, make sure the HDMI out is set to yes.

Well, thanks for posting the solution, and sorry I wasn't more help. But now, if someone has the same problem, they can find a possible solution here.
