Default no sound on sub woofer

I got a sub woofer but get no sound on it.

Is there away these can switch the sound off. ?

check the AVR settings..... make sure it is set up for 5.1 or 7.1 with subwoofer "Yes"

Also, how is it connected to the AVR? is it powered or passive? is there an on/off switch on the back and knob for volume control?


Perhaps list the type of sub/receiver for more info

The sub is connect to a sony str da 3400 the sub is a pioneer s-w160-k.

If u know the menu on a str there is no option for sub woofer (non I have found).

Advice wanted.

how is it hooked up? on your sony theres a pre-out box on the top middle, is that where its plugged in?
