Thumbs up Stanley Kubrick fans – see this film!

As I was browsing through Netflix deciding what Stanley Kubrick film I should rent next, I came across a documentary about the director titled “Stanley Kubrick: A Life In Pictures” which chronicles his early upbringing and early job as a photographer. It goes on to show some behind-the-scenes of the movies he worked on, and interviews with the actors & crews he worked with.
A very interesting insight into the man who brought us so many cinematic wonders. If you’re a fan, I highly recommend you check it out. And then re-watch, or see for the first time some Kubrick films.

This has been in my queue for a while now. I was just thinking about bumping it up after watching 2001 again. It was the first time I had ever watched it alone. Wow! It's almost a different film than when you're with other people. Way more claustrophobic, way more of a horror feel. I'll definitely be checking that out.

On one of the Kubrick Blu-rays (possibly 2001) there is an interview (voice only - no picture) with Kubrick. At first I was going to skip it because it was voice only. In the end I listened to it and I actually found it facinating.

One spooky part of the interview was Kubrick talking about how we try to avoid thinking about death, pretending it won't happen to us. Spooky because when I listened to the interview, Kubrick had already been dead for a while.

They have shown this documentary on Stanley Kubrick several times on TV in the past few years. I have a copy on VHS. At least, it is not Beta.

That is an amazing documentary.I first saw it on cable back in '01 and I taped it.
I finally got a copy on DVD last year when the Kubrick boxset came out.

I'm wondering if Dr. Strangelove is still going to come out in Dec or not. It's still listed on this site, but then I heard Sony decided to postpone it indefinitely. I'm really starting to hate Sony.
