Default PS3 Router Suggestions??

Thanks to these boards, I have discovered Hulu and PlayOn.
But.....the video streaming is poor, to say the least.
My present wireless router (D-Link DIR 615) works fine for connecting the wife's laptop (about the same distance as it is to the PS3) but doesn't seem to the new task.
So I'm looking for router suggestions.
Thanks in advance

Any chance you could just move the router and wire the PS3 directly to it and not use the wireless connection? That would be your best course of action (and cheapest as well).

Yeah I don't use wireless for the PS3. CAT5 is so much more reliable.

The best router you could possibly consider for any application would be the Linksys WRT54GL. This specific model of Linksys Router is built with a larger amount of flashable memory that can handle full versions of third party firmware that would allow you to create a wireless bridge, boost signal strength, etc.

The router can be found here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833124190

If you are interested in learning more about 3rd party firmware I have provided a few links for you.

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv3/index.php

FYI, I use this router as a wireless bridge to another of the same type, both running 3rd party firmware. I have my PS3, 360 and the Denon receiver connected to the bridged router.

I vouch for going wired as well.

I used to only be able to stream mp3s to my ps3. But with a 50 foot cat6 cable from monoprice (around $12) I can now stream HD content.

I also use this router and have no problem I have my ps3, 360, laptop, and my vontage phone all hooked up to it via wifi and never have a problem but it also has alot to do with your internet connection as well

the 54 G is a good router, supported by just about everyone
it has a new brother "n" that will support faster speeds

Depends on the internet connection you have to. "N" draft routers wouldn't really help your ps3 much since the ps3 does not have "N" draft technology. I have that type of router since my laptop does and when I switched from the regular "G" to "N" there wasn't any difference on the ps3's speed. Idk about you, but i don't want to run a 25ft cord down the hallway through my house. It doesn't take me long for videos on hulu to start playing. Maybe about 15 to 30 seconds tops.

Have you noticed better speeds on your laptop?... I have one that support 'N' and would like to know if it would be worth it or not. Thanks!

I noticed it to be a lil faster, not HUGE, but it was a difference but the big improvement was the range.

Linksys has a wireless N gaming adapter. Pair that with a Wireless N or Dual Band wireless N and that should help right?

wired is definitely the way to go, N would be of benefit if he was bridging 2 N routers

Been using Trendnet in high volume enviroments and they have very good coverage and throughput. And a 3 year warranty isnt too bad either. It is listed incorrectly on the website of newegg.

I just split my coax before my cable box and went with the wired connection, it works the best for me.
