Default Does better build quality equal better video/audio?

I was looking at BRPs that cost 1-2 grand..And receivers in the 3 grand and up range..They all emphasis better construction, more elaborate internal design, bigger PS, and a lot of seperating the components.. Does this really increase the AQ and PQ? Theres a lot of anti vibration type structures..And Pioneers new FS BRP weighs 45 lbs..

It's like anything esle....you get what you pay for.

However, if you have a $500 speaker set-up and you upgrade your receiver to one of those $3,000 behemoths, you may only notice a slight improvment. On the reverse side thereof, if you keep your entry-level or mid-level priced receiver and upgrade to a $3,000 speaker set-up, you should get a major improvement in sound.

Additionally, I personally wouldn't buy a $3,000 receiver. Instead I'd go for a seperate power/pre combo.

yes,it does but after a certain point it gets to be diminishing returns but that's usually over the $30,000.00 mark.

Sorry richieb1971, but I beg to differ. Electronics have a tremendous impact on the quality of sound that comes out of your speakers. Dedicated power amps and pre-amps function more cleanly than any receiver could, because they are dedicated to one task only.

I'll go even further and say that good quality speaker cable, interconnects, upgraded power cords and the like all add to an improvment. Although many on this forum don't share that opinion and perceive it to be a "placebo", I have noticed the difference in 30 years of listening to low-mid and high-end audio gear.

I agree with John. Electronics can and do make a huge difference in the quality of the audio and the video. Also, as John has suggested, rather than getting a $3,000 receiver look for separates- Pre/Pro and amps. You may pay a little more for the 2nd chassis, but they will perform better and you will ultimately have more flexibility. Part of what I mean by flexibility is that you can keep your amps when and if you ultimately replace your Pre/Pro as newer designs become available.

You will probably hear more with your replacement of a better pair of speakers to start with however to really benefit from the better electronics.

However, besides having better speakers the greatest improvement in your sound and/or visual performance will probably be your source electronics- that being your DVD or Blu-ray in electronics or turntable in a vinyl set-up. Purchase a better player and your system will improve and perform much better. If need be in the future, consider having the player and/or other electronics upgraded (as by Dave Schulte of the Upgrade Company: http://upgradecompany.com/)

Well stated. Speakers probably have the biggest impact on a system's sound, but don't discount the importance of good electronics too. However, one you get beyond most mid-priced electronics, the returns begin diminishing rapidly.

However, nothing beats a good system with separate amps and processors. That's the ideal way to approach it.

good speakers will reveal a poor source- kinda like computers- garbage in garbage out. if your front end is limited it doesn't make a difference how special your speakers are.

I agree, but I think the mark is much lower, and it greatly depends
on the room, your ears, etc...
