Default Issues with LN40A550 as computer monitor

So i switched to HDMI input on my tv (Samsung LN40A550) from my Video card (ATI 4870) and after some playing around i managed to get windows and text look real good (had to use the HDMI2/DVI input and name it "PC" but now im having issues whenever i play a game with refresh and resolution.

1920x1080p @ 60hz is my default and when i try to game at but some reason it seems to automatically switch to one of the following whenever i enter a game

1920x1080i @ 60hz
1920x1080p @ 24hz
1280x720p @ 60hz

basically anything except for what i actually want, it when it switches to a full screen game it changes all of my settings on my tv (contrast brightness and i have access to sharpness, which i dont on my normal windows desktop) and its all blurry (much like when i didnt name my source "PC")

this issue didnt occur when i was using my VGA input (but HDMI is alot sharper so i want to stick with it) but i have no clue why its doing this

I know when my wife plugs her laptop into our Samsung 860, it changes thescreen to fit whatever the GAME is set at.

Not sure if this could be your issue. Unless the game is 1920x1080, you will not get it on your TV.

the game is specifically set to 1920x1080@60hz, as are all my games, and like i said i didnt have this problem running on VGA, its only since i made the switch to HDMI

You may want to look/ask at the Samsung 550 group over at AVSForum.com.
