YES!!

This was the one title that made me invest in an HD DVD player even though I already had a substantial BD collection. My biggest complain was the lack of
the extended edition, which I love. Now, here it comes.

*Glee*

I know many hate it, but to me, it was the best movie of the last decade or so. That's right, totally better than LotR, TDK and whatever else people drool over. Don't flame me though

Bah to each his own. Personnaly i found it to be boring as hell, but hey that's me. Altought i might grab it anyway because the HD DVD had a stellar PQ and now we'll have the sound to match!

Great to see Universal stepping up to the plate. First Serenity, now this!

And nice to see both versions. Hope this bodes well for Lord of the Rings.

You're kidding me. They're dropping ALL the extras from the DVD?

Meh. I'll get it if it's cheap.

Unfortunately, Lords of the Rings is Warner Brothers, not Universal. Either way, I hope that Warner takes a hint from Universal.

Awesome news!

The HD DVD still might be the best looking high definition image I've ever seen on my display (admittingly there's a lot of Blu titles I haven't seen though).

I know, but presumably PJ would be involved with both releases at some level. That's the only reason I'm optimistic.

Technically it's New Line, which is owned by Warner.

Can anyone quote the article? Can't get to it at work, and I'd love to see some confirmation of this flick.
