I have a 60g PS3 and noticed the other day when i was downloading some bd-live content, that out of 55g's i only have 12g's left. If you add up all my videos and pictures plus demos and downloaded games and such, that's only taking up about 10g's. My question is what is taking up all that space and how can i delete everything but my saved games, pictures, videos and the os which i think in held in the other 5g's that are not availible. is there a way to save all this stuff while trying to clear up my hard drive?

Thats something i didnt think on, the new update for home. that could be taking up a lot of space but still 43g's of space taken by a few videos and pics plus saved games. thats not possible. my games and movies plus pictures take about 10g's minus the home download.

Picture files and music files will eat up some space depending on how much you have, but it is primarily the DLC such as Demo's most demos on the PSN are from 500mb to nearly 2Gb so if you have a couple of demos it doesn't take long. Also games like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (~3.5GB) and Metal gear solid 4 (~4GB) take up nearly 8GB just by themselves. I downloaded all 12 episodes of Siren's on PSN and it was just over 9GB for the entire game. Under your game XMB for game data, pick a game and do info to get the file size. I think it is triangle, you will see it in the menu. I continually have to purge my 60gb to be able to download new content. If you rent games and won't be buying or playing them be sure to delete the game info since it can consume valuable hard drive space. You may want to even backup your saved game data on a External or Flash Drive in case you ever need it again.

Yeah I would think the most space is taken up by Game Data folder!
Home reserves 3400Mb already! A lot if game installs are about the 4-5gig mark! It catched up on you thats for sure! |

thanks for all the suggestions but i have tried all of them, i think im just going to back up my saved games and some pics and videos and reformat the ps3. does anyone know if i will be able to redownload home beta without the code since i already downloaded it? what about friends list and all that, is that tied to the account or to the hard drive?
