nice tv!
even has a SD Card Slot, cool.

dvd player?..wat?..you mean a Blu ray player!..your best choice!..a ps3!.
you have to get yourself what you and your tv deserves!..

a True full 1080P Picture,you can buy a dvd player to upconvert,but you'd love a blu-ray player best and it's Worth it 100%.

oh oh,and welcome to Blu-ray!

From panasonics own website...

4. What is the "break-in" period and what should I do during the break-in period to minimize any risk of image retention? When your plasma TV is initially installed, the first 100 hours of use is known as the "break-in period." During this time, to minimize any risk of image retention, you should:

1. Make sure the plasma TV is in a viewing mode (aspect ratio) that completely fills the screen. The panel is shipped in this condition, in what is called the "Just" mode.
2. Turn down the Picture setting (in the Picture menu) to +0.
3. Briefly engage the 4:3 mode and confirm the side bars are set to "Mid", or "Bright". This can be adjusted in the Set Up menu.
4. Always return the display mode that fills the screen (such as Just, Zoom, Full, or H-FILL).
5. Try not to view channels with stationary backgrounds or logos for extended periods of time.
6. Avoid extended display of static images (video games, computer images, DVD title screens, etc.).

having a new plasma is a lot of work and a PS3 is a great choice for a blu ray player i have a stand alone sony blu ray player and a ps3 and the ps3 is far better in every way. youll also need to get your self a few HDMI cables to hook up your HD stuff. Now dont be fooled by the nice people at the stores you can get a great HDMI cable for under $5 on amazon that will give you the same quality as a $90 one from best buy or circuit city. heres a link to the HDMI cables i bought about 6 months ago.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002L5R78

and i also was tricked by the people at circuit city to get a 3 foot monster HDMI cable for $90 which i did. Then a year later i bought the one from the link above and theres no difference at all.

here are some good settings to use for the PZ85U.

You may or may not need to tweak them to account for your viewing environment, but these are settings you should be close too.

TomHuffman settings

...this guy is a Pro Calibrator, and he owns an 85u. This is the ideal settings he came up with, and should be close to perfect for you. But as I said, you may need to tweak to suit your viewing environment.

Also, turn "color management" OFF.

Pixel orbiter to "Force 1".

you can put it onto an SD memory card. (if you have one)

Zip Download (8KB)

All you should have to do is place the images on your memory card (this may vary by tv manufacturer).
Also, make sure that the images automatically loop and that no text or high contrast lines are displayed on the screen.

Nice I'll try that. I have to say that out of my 100+ free basic cable channels that only 3 or 4 look decent, and then again that only depends on what that particular channel is airing.

The Sunday NFL games did look incredible today though. Much better than anything I have ever seen on any LCD.

Some channels have a fish-eye effect as if I was looking at it through a fish bowl. Does anybody else have this problem?
