Default Neb Help, BluRay, Mits, DirectTV, Sony, Bose Hookup HELP Please

Hello, I have a problem and im sure im an idiot . I have to many cables etc and cant figure this one out.

I just got a New Sony Blu Ray- BDP-S350 im trying to hook it up to the following and need help, i might have some of the other stuff hooked up worng to- i would just like to get max performance out of all my componets and need yalls help.

-Mitsubishi 65" New DLP(model not sure but can get it if needed, only couple mounths old)
-BOSE 123 GS Sound System(NON HDMI system- 1 step older)
-DirectTV HD DVR
-Sony VHS/DVD RW RDR-VV560
-Sony Blu Ray BDP-S350
-WII Game System.

im trying to use HDMI for all i can, Ive had everything working ok but of coarse the BluRay player will not play sound through my Bose with just the HDMI hooked to the BR and TV. I tried the Optical Cable from BR to Bose, No sound, then hooked AV cables from TV to Bose and it plays BR sound but just not that great.... Any help to how all this should be ran would be very helpful, if needed i can give my phone# etc... thanks! Marty

This may or may not be helpful, but it is a good read. Are you sure your settings on your Blu-ray player were set to bitstream on optical out? You should connect it to the optical in on your receiver and switch the inputs to the proper one.

Make sure you buy ALL of your cables at Monoprice.

thanks for the reply.... i did change to coaxial/optical in the settings, then i tried to change a few other items in the audio setting but notta work( im guessing the bose will be set on AUX with the coaxial cable hooked up?? im truely lost.... i seem to have to much hooked up and now lost... I wish i had the money to get the setup in the link you provided but might have to wait a bit.. Ive read through some of it but with everything i have hooked up im just lost and not sure now if it is all hooked up correctly.

Did you make the following change to the "Audio Output Priority" as listed on page 21 of your user manual?

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/BDPS350_US.pdf

EDIT: Since you stated your Bose 3-2-1 GS Sound System doesn't have HDMI and is one step down, I'm assuming you have the Series II since the current model is Series III. If this is incorrect please let us know.

Have you also made the following change to the Optical Source under the Media Center section per page 49 (also see pg 20) of the user manual?

http://products.bose.com/pdf/custome...21GS_guide.pdf

If your system isn't the Series II model you can find manuals for the other 3-2-1 systems via this link:

http://www.bose.com/controller?event...ter_system.jsp

If you can sell it or return it for retail, why not? You could have a kick ass starter system for $1000.
