Default PowerCenter Surge Protector/Clean Power circuitry

I didn't know where to put this, because it pertains to both sound and video. What are your thoughts on these? Are they worth spending the extra hundred or so over your normal surge protectors? I heard they reduce the amount of component noise. I was thinking about getting this one:

I already have a really good surge protector, I just want to know everyone's thoughts on these.

That's not going to fit in my entertainment unit; which was why I was looking at the Monster Cable one. I just want to know people's thoughts on these type of units.

I see alot of people lately promoting the UPS, but why do you recommend this? Do you feel a battery backup is necessary in all applications? Also, dont they typically need to be replaced every 2 years or so because the battery fades out. We have one here at my work and thats the case, made by APC... Just curious for you info.

So the Monster powercenter I have linked above is not a battery back up right? I'm new to these type of devices, I just want to hear some thoughts.

Battery backup is only necessary in situations where the display utilizes a bulb(front or rear projection) or you are concerned about possible loss of information from a hard drive(cpu or dvr). All other times it is a luxury, albeit a convenient one.

OP look at APC, they make good power conditioners that are competetive in pricing to the monster one.

I have a couple of Monster Powercenters, the 3500 Mk II and the 2500, and they work really well for both noise reduction and surge supression. I have a local radio station that creates all sorts of interference, but the Power Centers keep everything clear.

very nice but is 8-plugs going to be enough? I have the HTS 2000 MKII 12-plug clean power surge protector and it's jest enough. with a HDTV, recrver, Blu-ray player, dvd player, game system, TV box, CD player, and subwoofer it will be full. add in my video splitter, a 2nd subwoofer, mini pc, DVR/HDD, VCR, tape player, lights. you won't have a enough plugs. good luck

Well just the stuff that's plugged into the TV in some fashion. If you have a VCR plugged into the RCA jacks on the back of a TV, you need it plugged into the conditioner.

Yeah! After all, Wal-Mart makes your old VHS tapes into DVDs for like ten bucks a disc!

I no longer use a VCR. My PS3 is my gaming machine, my Blu-ray player, and my DVD upscaler. Other than that, I have my HD cable DVR box, my LCD, my receiver, and subwoofer.
