Default Denon or Yamaha for Paradigm Monitors?

I have a Denon receiver right now paired with my Paradigm Monitor series speakers and like it quite a bit. But I soon want to upgrade to a receiver that does the Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD formats. Since being happy with Denon other than the terrible remote I was thinking of going Denon again but I have heard a lot of good stuff about Yamaha as well.

What do you guys think is a better match for Paradigm Monitor Series speakers, Denon or a Yammy? I'd be looking to spend in the $600-$700 range for the receiver.

Thanks.

The Yamaa 663 is an excellent choice for your price range, or maybe the Denon 1909. Both are right in your price range. Now, I don't know too much about Denon products (I've listened to the 2309 and 2809 but on different speakers), but I can recommend the Yamaha with confidence, and there are a lot of owners here who swear by them.

What version/series Monitors do you have?? I might pick up a pair of rosenut Mini monitors for the bedroom...

I have Monitor 7's for the mains and the matching center. They are v.3 Monitors. I have had them for about 4 years now.

Honestly i would say both.I had a Denon 787 with Paradigm speakers and there was a time i had a 5.1 Yamaha 9**(I forget the model #)reciever with all Paradigm speakers and really there both good with Paradigm.

Now i'll probally be alone on this but i find Denon and Yamaha very close for sound . Both companies are great and both companies are my favorite for recievers . So it's your choice.
I say it's up in the air.
In my opinion you can't lose.there both a win ,win

I'm actually in the same boat...considering both the 663 and the 1909. I have Klipsch speakers though. The Yamaha has one less HDMI input than the Denon. I love my current Yamaha receiver, but I helped my buddy by a Denon (4308)...

I would go with Denon. I had a Harman Kardon avr525 before switching to a Denon 3808CI. I have Monitor 7's v.3's and they sound great with Denon. You have to go with the higher Yamaha's to get the rated wattage out of them. I believe their 863 could only put out 42w w/ 5 channels driven.

I have the Denon 789; it's a great receiver for the price. I love Denon's build quality. Has HDMI video and sound passthrough, all the HD sound codecs, upscales analog to 1080p, etc. If you liked Denon before and trust them, I would go with them again.

I would say either.

But... I'm on my second Denon and will keep buying them just because it's be great thus far.

(Second because the first didn't do HDMI audio ... not second because something went wrong with the first one. I gave the old one to my step-dad and he's loving it.)
