My PS3 starts a movie where I left off, but I turned the option off in the settings menu b/c I would always turn the movies off at the credits and then thats where they would start up again when I go to watch the movie again...

This is an old debate. I find it appauling that people are both too lazy and disrespectful of the artform to not plan enough to sit through an entire movie, as it was meant to be experienced. Splitting a movie into a multiple day viewing ruins the artistic intent. Last edited by Petra_Kalbrain; 12-21-2008 at 12:59 PM. |

When you go to start a movie, if you hit the triangle, you can select play from beginning if you leave that feature on.

Petra, while it does suck to have to stop and restart a movie the next day or later, sometimes, especially with small kids, there aren't any other options. to get through TDK in one night, we started it when I got home from work at 5:30, ate dinner in front of it, had to pause to give the children baths and then finished it about 9:45 that night. What the director intended its the artform to be is irrelevant when kids are involved, or perhaps the OP wakes up at 3:30am to go to work, and has to go to sleep at 7:30pm, there is no way to make it through an entire movie in one night.
Its not lazy or disrespectful, its life. Perhaps you don't have kids, or perhaps you have the perfect 9-5 job and staying up till 11 pm is not an issue, perhaps you don't need much sleep. unfortunately its not the same for everyone. The bookmark feature should work, check the manual as to what button it is, I think the green one. |

They should all do like Lost Season 4... it use JAVA to remember where you shut-it off within the Java software. when you restart the player you're back in the main menu but there's a option for resuming at the exact position you where will all the setting saved (soundtrack selection etc).
When they use java, they normally include a Bookmark feature, it's the only way right now. Think it like a computer. if you're in a game and shutdown the computer with the PowerButton, you loose everything. The OS have to Reload. Java is the same thing, it's a piece a software... |

Half of the movies I play on my Sony 550, the bookmarks do not work!! Sony, Philips, Samsung all told me it was due to the java. I know it is the green button that makes them, because I use them on the movies that do work. Case in point-Band of Brothers, I press stop, it starts over everytime and the bookmarks don't work. To the smartass that commented that I should finish a movie when I start it, I have niether the time or patience to sit through a whole movie. Same as a book, I don't read front to back at one sitting. I just hope someone comes up with a solution to this major defect soon.

All other studios use booksmarks, but Universal bookmarks are a little tricky. They call their bookmarks "My Scenes" and you have to actually start playing the movie before you can access your bookmark under "My Scenes". |

The BD BonusView spec states that at least 256 MB of persistent storage CAN be made available, not that it is. Many standalone player manufacturers allow memory to be added via card reader or USB rather than incorporating memory directly into the unit. BD-Live requires 1GB+, but also doesn't have to be incorporated.

![]() They could have even gone one step further and offered the option of having the disc resume from where you left off without going thru the menu first, but they didn't for whatever reason. |
