Java Playback capabilities?

Half of the movies I play on my Sony 550, the bookmarks do not work!! Sony, Philips, Samsung all told me it was due to the java. I know it is the green button that makes them, because I use them on the movies that do work. Case in point-Band of Brothers, I press stop, it starts over everytime and the bookmarks don't work. To the smartass that commented that I should finish a movie when I start it, I have niether the time or patience to sit through a whole movie. Same as a book, I don't read front to back at one sitting. I just hope someone comes up with a solution to this major defect soon.
