Default Sony BDP-S350: From HDMI to Component Cables.. Please HELP!

Okay guys... so here is my situation.

I decided to give my parents my s350 for christmas... so i had it setup on my tv using HDMI cables... and now i tried hooking it up on their TV w/ component cables... it wont WORK!!! no video is displayed and no sound.

how do i get it to play? here's the situation though... i cant connect it to the any TV w/ HDMI as my TV is about 400miles away to change output. So basically im thinking its stuck on HDMI output at 1080p, and wont output on the component cables. I can't view any of the menus and dont know what to do.

Any ideas? Everyone on these forums definitely knows what they are talking about. Please give me some input!

Component Cables will only allow for 1080I screen resolution for the 350. I'd check what maximum resolution the display can handle then set it to that same resolution on your 350.

Component Cables do not carry any audio signals so you will need to either use the analog audio connection, digital coax, or optical connections and make the adjustments to your 350's audio configuration accordingly.

Your best bet would be to take the player to a place that sells LCD Tv's and Blu-ray players like Best Buy or CC and then ask if you can hook it up to change the settings.

You would think that after being unplugged for a long time and finding a new input that the player would bring up the easy setup menu again.

You may also want to give Sony a call as they may have some type of a factory reset that can be done by pushing a combo of buttons.

According to the manual:
No Picture appears when the video output resolution selected in "Output Video Format" is incorrect.
Press [STOP] on the player for more then 10 seconds to reset the video output resolution to the lowest resolution.
Although I have not had a need to try the above yet...

wow..i guess i need to be clearer on my post... i do know that the component cables will only display at 1080i max... but that isnt the problem... and i do already have cables for my audio.

the problem is... the only thing i have connected is component and audio cables... no hdmi cable is connected... NO VIDEO WHATSOEVER is being displayed. i am on the correct input source for the tv and the cables are working as i tried it with other sources than the bluray player... someone please help

You're pressing stop on the player and not the remote, correct?

The manual isn't too clear on whether you need to press the button when you turn the player on, or after the player is warned up...

Obvious question:
  • the TV has the correct video input selected for the component cables?
  • The component cable itself works?

Stopping by Best Buy might be an alternative if you don't know someone close by with HDMI in...

... and for clarification the STOP button needs to be held down for slightly longer than 10 secs.

did you try hooking up with a composite cable so you can see the menus? it should always output 480i with the composite.
