i have hdmi for my toshiba hd-a2 player but my friend was telling me that for the 1080p experience, component cables are better than the hdmi cable. he said hdmi is better for 720p. so should i use component cables for the samsung bd-p1000 or should i use hdmi for it?

Your friend is wrong as component is unable to carry 1080p signals, so by definition you cannot have a 1080p experience with component. HDMI is the best solution to all AV transport at the moment, regardless of resolution or quality.

Definately go with HDMI. It makes a difference compared to component cables, even on standard DVDs.

Like DVI or VGA cable and HDMI is required to view movie at 1080p. For best one, use HDMI. ![]() Component on my add-on player, it can only accept 720p, 1080i, 480p/i. It cannot accept 1080p. It have to use VGA cable to accept 1080p. Without VGA or HDMI, no way it can upconvert the standard DVD to 720p or depend what it does with upconvert, it will stay at 480p when using component cable. I don't need vga cable cuz my tv is 1080i, but not full 1080p. Tough, I have one hdmi output ready for my future Playstation 3 as expand to my family enterianment center in family room. So, If I were you, use HDMI and view movie at 1080i (if your hdtv is 1080p, view it at 1080p). |
