Default Electrical plugs with built-in surge protection

Instead of using external surge protectors, I'm wondering if there are electrical plugs/boxes that I can replace my home plugs with that have built-in surge protectors?

I can't seem to find anything like this on google except under some obscure patent info site.

In my opinion there is a better, more easily installed alternative. You can readily buy surge protecting circuit breakers for residential panelboards made by most manufacturers. They provide protection for everything fed from the same breaker. These are easily installed if you have minimal electrical skills. I attached an example link. (sixth or so item from the top) Just a thought.

Hi Blu-Raider

Thanks for that. Actually, I've got my electrician scheduled to come and install a setup just like that.

But I want secondary protection at the source...hence the plug question. Thanks for suggesting this, though

I've got an outlet that's also a surge suppressor. It's a Leviton. Here's a link to some of their products: http://www3.shopping.com/xPP-surge_suppressors--leviton.
