Default Pio VSX-92TXH & PS3 Question

I have a VSX-92 and my nephew brought over his new PS3 80 gb yesterday. We plugged it into the front input via standard RCA cabling (input 2 videogame) the sound worked but not the video. When the video cable was hooked into the TV directly the video worked, but not through the receiver. The receiver is hooked up to the TV via HDMI cable. I have hooked up a Wii the same way with no issues, what am I missing here?

Hmm, I have the same setup but with HDMI cable connecting the PS3 to the receiver. Actually, now that I think about it, when I originally hooked up my system to my receiver I had the same problem with my Xbox 360. I ended up running component cables directly to the tv and audio cables to the receiver.

I was under the assumption that the receiver would convert the component signal and send it through the HDMI cable....

So was I. I never really ended up looking into this. If you do get it figured out, let me know.

I have all my video signals running into my 94 and out through the hdmi output. It's so much easier not having to switch tv inputs all the time. Also the analog to digital video conversion is very good. I couldn't notice any difference between running video through the receiver vs. directly to the tv. If you want some help figuring this out I would more than glad to. Just shoot me a pm.

I would hook the PS3 up via HDMI. If you are hooking it up via composite with the PS3 uses then it will convert it to the right resolution. Make sure all your inputs are correct then you should be fine. I know you have 3 hdmi inputs and 1 output. You just have to figure out which one it is. I hope that helps.

I have the 94 model so I have a pretty good idea about your unit. I have successfully used the front panel with my dreamcast so I know it works. I think you have to go into the receiver setup and turn the s-video input off. You do this under Input setup. I'm not positive because it was so long ago I don't really remember. If I am correct though the receiver is looking for video from the s-video input and you have to tell it that you're feeding it composite. Let me know if this works for you. I mean if you're still trying to resolve this issue. If it doesn't work I'll hook my dreamcast up again and try to figure out what I did to get it to work.

Good luck
