Default So I just bought the Pioneer VSX-92TXH

Just set everything up yesterday. This is the first receiver I've owned. Just wondering if those of you out there can give me some tips. I didn't really have time yesterday to get acquainted with it. One question I have is how do I know if I'm getting the best possible audio tracks from my blu rays? Is there some setting in the ps3 that I need to change? Will it do everything automatic?

PS3 needs to be set on Linear PCM.

Congrats on your new toy...you will love it! One word of advice, it you use the auto system setup to calibrate your system make sure you read completely through "The System Setup menu" section before actually running the setup. I say that because there are a lot of settings especially if you are not used to it. I had a Denon AVR 1604 prior to this and knew the system well. I ran the Pioneer system setup as I was reading and noticed that so many things changed that I was not familiar with. Prior to running the setup the out of box sound was already pretty good, but after running the setup it didn't sound right.

Get to know what the default settings are before running the setup...that way you will know what to go back to. I ended up manually changing settings to get the sound I wanted.

Also, do as "crackinhedz" said and change BD audio setting to "Linear PCM".

Enjoy!

and hit "select" and verify what the PS3 is sending, signal wise.....

Although I found out today that my Nanny's little daughter "played around" with some buttons and changed my surround modes, so I was watching IRobot with NO center channel, no surrounds, etc..... I put it back on 7.1 and got the dialog back (It didn't even feed the dialog through the 2-channel.... odd) I honestly thought that was how the movie was supposed to be at first (been awhile since I had seen it)

Thanks guys, I figure I'll take my time and check out everything that it has to offer. Just wish I could have afforded a high-end speaker setup, maybe in a few years. At least I got a great deal on the receiver.
Myabe you can recomend me some blu rays to test out the 5.1. Watched Cloverfied last night and the sound was awesome. Thinking 300 might be my next watch.
