Default Warner says 60 -70% of sales are BD

http://www.videobusiness.com/article/ca6435141.html

Maybe this is why we get Blood Diamond first.

This is truely big news for BD...considering all the Warner titles not available on BD yet.

yeah...in the local paper...they had an article about good shepherd and happy feet and how well they are doing on DVD....

and then they added in the last paragraph how BD accounts for 69% of the HD market....HD-DVD 31...obviously..

Nice to see some good news.

See folks? By the time HD-DVD players their last wild, desperate card for their cheap Chinese players into WalMart a year from now...BD will continue to see trends like these ever growing in their favor.

Say the magic word with me: CONTENT!

HD-DVD fans are content....with a weaker brand...

BD fans follow better content...with a stronger brand..

I mean...they don't even have the quantity vs quality argument....because BD has both...

Cheap junky players from China will sell to uninformed people at WalMart. In the end these players just make it so that the good quality ones have a hard time selling. I can't see any of the decent manufacturers making much of a profit when having to compete with the dredges. It was one of the reasons to push ahead away from dvd as there was little to no profit being made. These players really serve no purpose but then does Toshiba.

This should easily rise to 72% after todays mass BD orders.

Agreed ,if these customers knows a little about BD i'm sure they will not buy this silly machines because they will know BD is the superior format and will buy a blu-ray player.

If they walk in and they see a bunch of movies they like and recognize and all of a sudden they see a bunch of Blu-Ray logos on most of those movies? Therein lies the rub.

That's good to see. I was starting to wonder if, in the article on Video Business, Warner meant that the "30-40% of revenue from those titles" meant total revenue or just high-def revenue. With that number, it seems that we're right in thinking it's high-def revenue.

Yes, they meant that their titles are selling 2:1 in favor of BD, for HD DVDs were 1/3rd of their revenue for now, so they kept doing them.

So make it 10% 10:1 sales then. Make it a Blu Blood Diamond!

It depends on how many Warner titles people are buying. I suspect not many people are buying Warner today. Damn you and your sandbagging, Warner!

Please let me know if you find one! I know it's slated for DVD release in August, but I've not heard any actual date for any format release of it.

I think it was about 2 issues ago of Home Media Magazine where I saw it slated for August. Like I said, no date, but that keeps in line w/ the DVD releases of March's movies last year (V for Vendetta, for example).

Maybe you just heard a rumor. It's pretty easy to guess a few dates for it. If you look at last year, V came out early August, so you can easily guess 300 would be Aug. 7 (THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL, I'M JUST GIVING AN EXAMPLE, SO DON'T GET EXCITED), since that's the first Tuesday in August.

Hopefully the BD-J abilities used on Dragon's Lair will be enough for Warners for 300, because I just read this from movieweb.com:

Snyder wants the DVD "to include an interactive feature that gives credit to Miller's art as the movie plays. "You would actually see the Frank frame [within the movie screen]," he says. "Whenever it's the same as the movie, you would see that frame in the corner, and you could click on that.""

Here's the link: http://www.movieweb.com/dvd/news/78/18378.php

For the most part, I think this would be a PiP function showing boards from the novel at the corresponding parts in the film. As it's a special feature, I of course don't care about it, but hopefully this won't cause a delay of this title's release on BD.
