Default BD is winning in Warner sales!

http://www.blu-crew.com/WarnerWars.php

"Out of the 94 Warner titles tracked at Amazon, currently 78 titles rank higher on Blu-ray Disc and 16 rank higher on HD DVD."

I've bought seven of those DUD-leading titles, including Nip/Tuck, Smallville, and PE, as well as Blazing Saddles, A Room With A view, Omega Man. Still, it's rather obvious that red is getting swamped, big time.

I know it's hard to answer this question without a bias but do you guys view this is Warner getting rid of stock before going HD-DVD exclusive (I've heard people say that) or is the the final proof that Warner has chosen blu? I suppose a third option would be it just means that you buy 1 you get 1 free...

Probably just trying to compete with all of the standard dvd sales this holiday season. I've seen some new release dvds listed at about $5 at the major electronics retailers recently.
If they were going hd dvd exclusive then their blu-rays would actually increase in value.

I think it's nothing but a buy one get one. They've done HD-DVD sales in the past too. Most (all?) of the other studios have had sales. It's a good way to clear out titles that aren't selling as well and at the same time increase interest. I think it means nothing but that. By the "they're clearing out stock" logic, that would mean Sony and Disney were switching very soon, given the number of sales they've had.

Wish there were Bogo sales over here in Belgium.
We need incentives to push HD to the main market

Hey all, let me introduce myself real quick- I'm 24, from MI, USA, I like walks on the beach etc etc jk...

Anyways, I just wanted to correct this-

I recently compared Amazon's bestsellers and the Nielsen top 10, and they were extremely different.

Neilsen week ending Nov 25th
Live Free or Die Hard
Open Season
Spiderman 3
Ratatouille

Shrek
Transformers

Hairspray
Ocean's 13
The Santa Clause 3
300

Amazon Bestsellers Tuesday, November 20th:
Planet Earth
Die Hard Collection
Live Free or Die Hard

The Departed
Ratatouille
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Planet Earth

Shooter
Bourne Trilogy
Top Gun

Most notable is that Planet Earth has been #1 @ Amazon for what seems like an eternity, and has been very high up, ranking in the top 30 or better in the entire DVD category. Regardless of its high position on Amazon, it's nowhere to be found in the Nielsen top 10. To me that's a huge sign that Amazon ranks sometimes mean absolutely nothing at all.

It's good for Warner Blu though.. check out what's 8th and 10th in the Nielsens...

The biggest thing is that amazon's list constantly changes and also includes pre-orders. Nielsen's are sales/shipments from a specific week.

Welcome to the Forum!

It's just a sale to move product like any other during the Christmas sales season. I wouldn't read anything into it.

It is Amazon....why do people persist on getting giddy and stupid over amazon numbers when it has been shown over and over and over not to mean anything.
Blu people love to say "it's only amazon" when hd-dvd backers use amazon numbers but then run to make threads over the same numbers when they go the other way.

If this does not help convince WB that Blu-ray is winning than what will?
72% dominance? Oh we have that too.

There's a war on! All's fair in love, war, and format infighting!

this has increased quite a bit since that last time i say, it used to be about 60ish for blu-ray and 20ish for DUD.

besides PE, there is hardly anything close to making an impact that they are winning.
