Default Dolby TrueHD & DTS HD MA via Bitstream?

Forgive me if this is addressed in another thread but i couldn't find one. Do i need to have a Bluray player that sends the Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio via bitstream for my Receiver to read those? I currently have the Panasonic BD10 and it doesn't send TrueHD and DTS HD MA via bitstream and i'm guessing that's why my receiver (Pioneer 03txh) will not read those. Is this correct? Thanks!

you can either send the signal bitstream for a receiver to decode or have the player decode and send it in pcm form and output via hdmi or 5.1/7/1 analog out to a receiver with analog in. but if the player doesnt decode, say dts ma, then you cant get it unless your bitstream to a compatable receier for decoding. it all depends on your equipment

Your BD10 will only decode Dolby TrueHD to PCM.

To bitstream it would require a new player, like the BD35.

I was afraid of that. I did set the TrueHD to PCM as the manual said to, it shows as PCM on the receiver instead of TrueHD. So if i got the BD35 it will bitstream all audio formats to the receiver and the receiver will read TrueHD or DTS HD MA depending on which one is used? is that correct?

So long as you are bitstreaming via HDMI cable, then they are correct.

Just my opinion. Can not see what all the fuss is about as the DTS HD or what ever sound format is being used must be converted to PCM before it is converted to analog. It really does not matter if the BD decodes the sound format to PCM sends it to the receiver and the receiver converts it to analog or if the BD sends whatever sound format to the receiver the reciever converts it to PCM and then to ananlog. Only differance is if the receiver does the decoding the reciever will show DTS HD for example instead of PCM.
