If calibrated properly, no you wouldn't lose any clarity. You also won't notice pixels, since you won't be able to see any at all. Colors will also be more intense. You will also gain film depth.

Look at my T.V. (KDS50A2000 SXRD) in my gallery, and notice how clear the image is....you see no pixelization.

If I were you I would be looking for the new technology such as LED rear projection instead of the bulp rear projection. LED you won't have to worry about blowin bulps and paying $200 a pop.

We've had five of eight of those models returned for power switch issues.......$300.00 fix.
Besides you could do better than 10,000 :1 contrast ratio. DLP's have also had issues with the mirrors messing up.It's much easier to replace a lamp than to replace an entire LED system, or get a new DLP chip installed.

You're seriously considering going from a 58" plasma to a soon-to-be-outdated technology RPTV, just for size? Plasma currently has the best picture technology available today. You will definitely see a degredation in picture. I've had HD RPTVs in the past, and they don't hold a candle to a good plasma. If you want bigger, then I'd go with a good projector. If that's not an option, I'd wait for laser and/or OLED to see what's available. If you need/want something now, then I'd HIGHLY recommend the 65" Panasonic plasma 65PZ850U.

Blanket statements like that are not accurate. You'll cetainly see the pixels if you are close enough to the screen.

i have to say plasma. I have a plasma and the pQ is just mind blowing. I was looking into the LED DLP's before hand and projection tv's in general and was not all that impressed with them.

The black levels are far away from the level of blacks you will get from a plasma and color reproduction on a plasma will be far superior to a DLP set, then there are the viewing angles. And of course although you can still buy DLP set it is obvious they are on the way out when only 2 manufacturers are supporting them now, Sammy and Mitsu. I would have to say you should get plasma, anything tfrom the panny line if plasmas will be far superior than any dlp based tv

Come over to my home and look at my screen from1/2 inch away.....you can't see any pixels...........ask someone who has one and they will tell you this. Obviously you haven't looked at one.

I just picked up a 50" plasma and I was bragging about it at work so, naturally my best friend had to out do me in size and get a 67" led DLP. I invited him over to check out my set. I threw in some animated blus then Apocalypto, Crank and finished off with some Call of Duty. Needless to say He was asking me what was an online companies return policy.
Quality>Size

Well, I'm not about to argue over whether or not your eyes can see individual pixels or not. The fact is that all TVs are made-up of individual pixels, and I have yet to see any where you won't see the pixels if you are close enough to the set. If there is some technological explanation that makes your specific set different than all of the rest, I'd love to hear it (and I'm not being sarcastic). I had a similar 55" Sony SXRD, and got rid of it for my 58" plasma. Night and day difference in picture quality.
