Does anyone have speaker suggestions for this receiver. I know a lot of it is personal preference, but I'm looking for a nice speaker for a good price. Budget is around $500 or so hopefully less. I noticed that there were some nice Polk speakers on Newegg and Crutchfield websites, but just not sure how well they'll work with this receiver.
Thanks! |

Just picked up the Polk RTi A1 bookshelf speakers and the CSi A4 center speaker, I have the Onkyo 605 which is very similar to the 606. I absolutely love the speakers they are simply tremendous. You may want to look on the Polk website and then look on their EBAY store front, the speakers are refurbished but are sold with a warranty. If you are in the NJ, Tri-State area try Interstate Electronics, fantastic prices.

Polks would work just fine if you can get them into your budget, the monitor line is being discontinued, so you have need to hurry and find them or they will be gone, a good substitute for the polk monitor 50 is the Sony 5000/6000, but its all subjective when your talking speakers, I think the monitor line is being replace with the TSi line..... but not 100% sure, I am sure someone will let you know in a few.....
Otherwise I and most others will say, get a few ideas and then go listen to them in a store and see what you prefer.... your ear, your speakers, your choice ultimately. |

The Quintets are definitely in your budget. The Synergy series is really pushing your budget. You'd probably have to expand your budget a good bit to get into the Refererence or Icon series.

I read some comments not too long ago in the Energy owners thread on avsforum.com and remember one saying that the Energy C-series was made for a receiver like the Onkyo 606.
I will say this too, the Energy speakers were made for the Yamahas as well. What I like about them is that the sound is open, airy, spacious (or full), and very detailed. See my signature for the ones I have. However, the C-series are hard to find now after being replaced by the RC series. Some say the RC series is better than the C-series. I don't know about that. But if they are, you are in for some great sound for both listening to music and HT. The best of both worlds. ![]() See the Energy site for more info. The Onkyo 606 is a good power house receiver. It should be able to drive the Energy speakers as well as my Yamaha does. ![]() Edit: BTW, Audio Advisor has the C300 towers for $130 each, C-C100 center for $175, and the C-100 bookshelf speakers for $150/pair. For $585.00 you got a fine 5 speaker Energy C series system! Get them from Audio Advisor through amazon.com and save on shipping! Last edited by Yeha-Noha; 01-07-2009 at 02:20 AM. |

Futureshop has some C-500's left... only a few in cherry but other than that, the C-Series is quickly disappearing.
I got my C-500s/300s, 10.3 sub at Futureshop and the C-C100 center on Ebay. FS had killer deals on the 500/300s over the holidays... hence they are almost all gone now. |

What do you guys think would be a good compliment for a center, sub and surround speakers to go with the Polk Audio Monitor 50's? I think I'm about to buy the below deal although the color is kind of throwing me off. Is it White? Maple? ???

Furashu I am probably going to go with a setup that you have. What kind of sub do you reccommend? You use the Monitor 30's for your surround correct? CS1 a good center?
