Well, Santa finally brought me a 606!! The next time I see that fat, hairy old man I'm gonna give him a big, sloppy, wet kiss right on the mouth! Well, on second thought, maybe just some milk and cookies...but I'm still VERY happy!!
Ok, now down to business. How come I don't see the DTS-HD Master or Dolby TrueHD lights lit on the receiver when I play a BD recorded with these codecs? I only see the PCM Multi-Channel light on. Do I need to set the BD player to 'direct'? Or is it because these are 7.1 codecs and I only have 4 speakers set up? Thanks- |

It's most likely (like, 99%) because you have your BD-350 outputting via Linear PCM. If your player is able to bitstream all the codecs, if you set it to that you'll see the appropriate lights lit up on the receiver.
Bottom line is that as long as you pick the right codec when you pop in the disc, both should sound exactly the same. |

All of the sources I have hooked up are already hi-def so I don't use any of the upscaling at all. The processing really only comes into play if you are using an old device with composite or s-video. |

605 owner, but I avoided that issue for my xbox 360 (component) and my Wii (also component) by going straight to the HDTV. Audio via optical or stereo cables in the case of the Wii.
Upscaling is kind of tacked on for another bullet-point in my opinion. It is using a Faroudja chip I believe. ...are you really needing that much upscaling? |

Also, on the 606, in the Hardware / HDMI setting if I remember right, be sure to set the TV audio out to OFF. I had the same problem you have until I found out that setting this to ON completely disables all HD sound. AFAIK it doesn't say so anywhere in the manual. I set it to ON because I sometimes wanted to use only the TV speakers for watching the news or such... Hope this helps. |
