...too bad they're hinting at eliminating optical media altogether on the next gen consoles. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer owning physical media, plus I'd be nervous having all my games/movies on one drive that, if it failed, could wipe out everything (yes, I could/should have backups, but that may have its own drawbacks) - meanwhile if one disc went bad the rest are fine.

Well I think it will use flash media, maybe like SxS?

more than likely, if it does come to that, there will be purchase histories that you could go back to, and re-download those games that you lost due to system failure/crashes.
I believe itunes does that. If you lose your songs, you can contact them, and you can re-download free of charge. Not sure if that is a case-by-case basis, but I heard about it on the radio.
