Default Ken Kutaragi was right

We are at E3 2005 and Ken Kutaragi announced that the PS3 will carry a Blu-ray Player since that day the days of HD-DVD was counted, it was the beginning of a final countdown for the HD-DVD, a countdown which was finished this week, Ken kutargi was right, the Blu-ray is the key to success and the Playstation 3 was the key to the success of Blu-ray.

Here is a video that I just posting on youtube :

I miss Ken. At least he is working on the PS4. I can only imagine what he has up his sleeve for this one.

Of course they are. Can't blame the man for wanting to push the boundaries of technology. I thought that was what innovation was all about. Not just a rehash of something else with attaching cheap parlor tricks. I digress, sorry.

The PS4 can simply have 4 or 8 times then number of cells for a massive power increase and full backward compatibility. Thats the advantage of parallel processing. Everything else will be fluff (dual hdmi, 1Tb hdd, 2gb ram etc).

i would hope by the time the ps4 hits that processor's are doing things faster and more efficient than the cell is today. like i was saying in the other thread, i don't think cell..or a variation of it will be in the ps4

Yeah, in a way the PS4's GPU will be the main point of interest, because harder to predict.

I think next gen is going to be something beyond an upgrade in graphics. With Wii's success, I think both Sony and Microsoft are already r&d-ing a similar way to control games. Plus with the 3d tech videos that were made with the ps eye and the Wii mote, I think games with a digital 3d perspective will be just as important as 3d graphics. If you haven't seen these tech demos, here is the link. They are quite impressive.

this is just how i feel the man is innovative, to quote an interview nexgenaration magazine did with ken kutaragi back in 2001
Quote:
ng: microsoft has created a console thats easy to develop for, built from off the shelf pc parts.they argue that if developers aren't spending as much time fighting with the system they'll spend more time creating and balancing gameplay.do you feel this is a legitmate view?
kk:let me ask you this question. if this kind of benefit is one of the advantages of xbox why couldn't they demonstrate very nice early titles at e3?and another question,if the system is easy to develop for, does that neccessarily mean you'll get very nice titles? will you ask mr.spelberg or james cameron if shooting pictures is easier using one kind of camera?
ng:yes but xbox isn't even out yet. after all,it took even some of sony's best developers a year to get ps2 product up and-
kk[interrupting]yes, but more importanly, ps2 is a very, very deep system, and im confident that this is the right environment for creating.the creativity is based on its differences.if it's easy to port, it's easy to copy from.thats not creation, and it's not entertainment. i think 3DO was a much, much nicer platform than xbox.
this interview is still revalent today, he feels just because a system is easy to make games on that dont mean the games will be good. the ps3 is hard to program for yes but that will force creativity to try something new, if everything was so easy in the world, why bother trying something new? something different?. and somebody else posted in a ken kutaragi thread( thers alot of these poping up now) he quoted jfk he said we choose to go to the moon not because its easy but because its hard.

im sorry, this industry is retarded.

the first ps everybody was like, "oh! ken is nuts, ken is retarded that will never work." he was right.

second time everybody was like, "oh! ken is nuts, ken is retarded that will never work." kenny was right.

now you would think they would have figured it out by now, that the man knows what he is talking about, but NO! ken is stupid, blu-ray is stupid, bla! bla! bla! once again ken showed them.

ken is the greatest console designer ever.

Yes that's what it will be..that's why all those companies invested what they did..short story .. scalability in multiple directions. PS3 developers are also WAY ahead of the curve for the PS4 development...like 80% done already. xtop is wrong .. again
