I'm with you ThereWasBlood. Gladiator in HD on cable is amazing to see. I have been drooling for this Russell Crowe masterpiece (kudos to Ridley Scott) to release on blu-ray disc. Once day the good folks at Dreamworks will bring it to all of us who are eager to see it in 1080p.

I can live with the upconversion PQ and the DTS audio for now but I cannot wait! I was just watching some of this movie the other day.

i've watched this movie about a million times, i hope we see it this year but my guess would be next year around christmas time

EDIT: Actually it looks like it'll come out this year. SWEET

There is no info on when it will be released either.

Does HBO have the HD version of this? What format? Blu or HD-DVD? I wanna get it directly from HBO. What's the number to HBO? I wanna talk to the manager.

everytime it's on HBOHD i try not to watch it, because i dont want to tire of it before the blu comes out some day.

Some of the rumor mills on other sites have been talking a lot about a Gladiator release coming sooner than later. The last I read, the rumors mention it being released in the US in the first half on 2009. It's a little late to announce it for Feb or March so hopefully we get this in April!

Somehow, the 1.77 format (which is the HDTV version I saw) suits the film even better (more top and bottom image, no cropping).
