Sony BDP BX1 - Blu-ray Forum

Hi Everyone

OK please be gentle with me as this is my first time here. I moved to Canada from Scotland and I have over 500 DVD's that will not play on my Sony Blu-Ray BDP BX1. I called Sony but they were unwilling to tell me how to allow the machine to go to Region Zero so I can play discs from the UK and Region One.

I am looking for someone to tell me how to allow my machine to go to region Zero so I can play my disc's

Hello Evil Mcnasty!

I suppose you have several options. Buy a region 2 player that allows you to power it on 110v power. Look online for a region free hack code or a chip used to region un-lock your player. The reason Sony support won't tell you how to do this is that they are obliged to maintain region lock due to legal obligations. They almost view it as ilegal

Also, I believe your Blu-ray player is a renamed Sony Bdp-s350. The north american models lack the hardware to play PAL discs anyhow. I'd also recommend contacting www.bluraymods.com for assistence.
