Its just the Sony BDP-S350 renamed for wholesale clubs like Costco
Its a great player, fast load times, ethernet capable...... same specs See and hear a whole new world in high definition with Sony’s BDP-BX1. The crystalline clarity of 1080p Blu-ray Disc™ movies1 and DVD upscaling2 that can bring your DVDs to the highest possible quality, mean your favorite movies have never looked or sounded so good. Costco was also the exclusive distributor/seller of the Sony BDP-S301, which was a re-named Sony BDP-S300. The only difference between them being the name and the addition of an HDMI cable to the box of the BDP-S301. I owned a BDP-S301 before and it worked great. The firmware updates between the cousins have been released simultaneously in the past so I wouldn't be concerned about getting the Costco model. Personally, I feel that the BDP-BX1 is a better deal, since it includes an HDMI cable and sells for slightly less than the BDP-S350. Keith Last edited by Aries64; 09-29-2008 at 01:55 PM. Plus consider that Costco's 90 return policy DOES NOT include Blu-ray and DVD. You can still bring them back if not satisfied forever. I just called to confirm that. I bought the S350 at Best Buy yesterday but will take it back tomorrow and get the BX1 instead, plus it will save $20.

well you need to set in sttings quick start, so that it turns on faster, uses a bit more power in this mode, then having it off, it cuts about 20 sec off otherwise.

I was using an HD-DVD player with my digital projector (component to vga) and getting good results. Just got the BDP BX1 and the component out gives me a noisy image... I wonder if I should change the output mode, or try a new player or get a new projector
