I have finally made my decision between LCD and Plasma, I went with a new Pioneer Kuro Plasma......Getting my Pioneer Kuro 5020FD next week, and was wondering if a Power Center is essential for such an investment, and a Plasma Screen. I currently have a 5 year old Toshiba DLP in its place and all I got was a "Monster" Power/Surge Bar at that time. (see below)
Monster MP HT800 AC Power Distribution The salesman is trying to get me to purchase the following "Bar" from Monster. for the new Plasma. (see below) Monster Home Theatre Power Center (MP HTS1000MKIII) (stating that it will split audio from video etc....limiting feed back noise) I get none what-so-ever with my current setup. Bottom line I will need another Power/Surge Bar soon anyways, since I will still be using the DLP in another room. But I am debating if I need a top calliber one or is my current one sufficient for the following setup. Screen: Pioneer Kuro 5020FD (coming next week) ![]() Receiver: Yamaha HTR-6160 Speakers: Bose Acoustimass Six Series Cable: Rogers Atlantic Scientific 8300 HD-PVR Blu-Ray: PS3 Sony Playstion 3 60GB Remote: Logitech Harmony One Any info is greatly appreciated, He was going to sell me the MP HTS1000MKIII for $175 (CAN) if that means anything. |

YOU DONT NEED A 500.00 ONE BUT A 15.00 JUST DOESNT CUT IT.WOULD YOU DRIVE YOUR LEXUS WITH NO INSURNANCE...THERES GOOD ONES THAT PROTECT FOR 60.00 THATS ALL ANYBODY REALLY NEEDS NOW IF YOU WANT CONDITIONING AND CLEAN POWER THEN YOU MAKE THE CHOICE OF HIGHER PRICED SURGE PROTECTION.BUT THEN AGAIN WHAT DO I KNOW I HAVE MY TV ON 2 NIGHT STANDS(LOOK AT MY GALLERY)BUT IT HAS A GOOD SURGE PROTECTOR.

Thanks guys for the feedback, HOWEVER I wasn't planning on spending $500 on a Power Center, all I was looking at was a power/surge bar with clean staging. IS this one sufficient?
http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=4445 @ a price tag of $175(CAN) (deal from the sales man) regularly $230(CAN) I guess thats about the going rate for this. We all know Monster is a "monopoly" OR can I go with another one of these? http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=592 Whats the main difference between these two? Thanks again |

However thats $115.84 (US) convert over to (CAN) and you get, $143.45(CAN) for "last years model. plus the shipping charges, and I am almost at the deal of $175 that he offered me for this years model. You have to remember I am from Canada, where the dollar is brutal again, ![]() I just want to know is that a sufficient "Bar" for what I am after? |

Look at the top of the thread,
Screen: Pioneer Plasma Kuro 5020FD Receiver: Yamaha HTR-6160 Speakers: Bose Acoustimass 6 Series Source: Rogers Cable Box HD-PVR 8300 Scientific Atlantic BluRay Player: Sony Playstation PS3 Thats about it, maybe a Yamaha DVD player, but that's debatable. Sales guy is pushing me on the Monster Power Center 1000 HTS MKIII Last edited by wozman; 02-03-2009 at 01:56 PM. |

As they are trained to ^^^^^^^^^ But its up to you monster is a hated brand here and only because of there price there products are okay.they just feal like it should be alot cheaper. If you can drop the amount the sales guy is offering to you then do it if it makes you feal comfortable, out of those 2 choices you gave there both going to protect the more expensive one is going to clean the power vs the cheaper one thats just going to protect. Some people argue that it makes a diffrence in picture quality and sound quality Other say theres no diffrence. But like i said if you want something to just protect that tripp lit one i suggested is good if you want to go all out then go with that top monster.Im not going to sit here like other people and say ohh no dont buy moster its garbage cause its not just expensive. HDMI CABLES IS A DIFFRENT STORY!!!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by s0nIc; 02-03-2009 at 02:08 PM. |

I have the 2000 HTS-MKII model and when the LEDs on the front went on the fritz, they replaced without any issue. Asked for the S/N confirmed wit was within 3 years of manufacturing and sent a replacement. Got it in about two days. I can't remember, but I don't think I had to return the old one. The thing is, I don't have it anymore, so maybe I did have to return it. Memory and getting old is a b**ch.
I also run a Tripp-Lite HT1000UPS that the Monster 2000 HTS-MKII connects to. |
