Default Fixing Steelbook dents

got Quantum of Solace for X-Mas and recently started playing online again, I noticed that the steelbook case (got the collectors edition) has a nasty little ding in the cover

no paint got worn off, but its an annoying dent...

has anyone had experience fixing dents before, it seems simple, all i have to do is get the plastic case out and put a piece of wood over the ding and hit it a few times with a hammer

but how would i go about removing the disc tray? actually the opposite side of the disk tray, the dent is on the cover

I dont believe there is a way. Its like a pop can, dings easy and looks nasty when dented

well i tried it, i was able to make the dent noticeably less noticable, but i added another barely noticeable nick, so it looks about the same

+1

I tried it once and broke a lot of plastic pieces by taking the plastic inlay out of the Steel.
I created a few mini-dents on the side where the Steels open to pry the disc holder out.
But I did a good job with the dent ont the front cover.

My advice is stay away of this, but we always try it anyway. (I do)

Cheers,
Gui

I did it several times for my dented steels, except those with hinge broken , in which cases, removal of the internal plastic may further break the hinge.

The "repaired" ones are Hancock (Ger), Cleaner (TF1), Hyper Tension (TF1), Sweeney Todd (HMV) and transporter 3 (HMV 2nd shipment for replacement), can't have dents totally removed, but they can "stand alone" and look much better than the condition when received.

I was wondering how hard it was to remove the plastic disc holder because a couple of my james bonds came with double disc holders and i was going to see if there was a way to switch them out. I see now its probably not a good idea.

I dont understand how its done as to reach out to the dents, you definitely have to remove the inner plastic disc holder.

The key is to carefully jack-open the small fins at both corners of the steel cover at the spine side, then push out the spine together with the inner plastic disc holder. But never try this to steelbook which hinge were broken already, as this will further damage the hinge and make it useless. Sorry for my bad english, hope the above will not confused you
