Default PS3 problem, need help (I know how to fix it, but need help still)

Well,

I have made a stupid mistake.

I got my PS3 hooked on an HD-tv, which supports 720p and 1080i.

I use HDMI and with custom settings (I pick wich resolutions my tv supports). Well, I was messing around with my PS3 settings.
Then I made a mistake. I selected HDMI and deselected 576p, 720p and 1080i, and selected 576p and 1080p. After doing this, my screen went blank.

As you all know, XMB is displayed in the highest resolution possible (in this case 1080p, and my screen doenst support that). So I needed to reset my PS3 (using PS3 to scart). After reset, when I select HDMI again, I get that 30 seconds thing. But when displaying the 30 seconds, it still gives me a blank picture over HDMI because it displays it in 1080p.

I also reset it in XMB, 'restore default settings', still the same problem.

I can solve this problem, but I need to navigate threw XMB blindly. When the 30 seconds thing happens, I must press 'yes' and then custom, and then deselect 1080p, so I will get a picture through HDMI.

After I get a picture, I can select the regular settings on my PS3.

So what I need is a walkthrough.

Example:
Press X in this screen, Press directional button in that screen, etc.

Help me please.

Turn off the PS3. When turning on the PS3 hold the button down until it beeps a second time. It should auto-detect and display in a supported resolution.

I tried that allready, it doesnt help me with my problem.

After that reset, the PS3 uses the other output instead of HDMI. When in this mode, I go to select HDMI in menu, but after selecting HDMI, I get a black screen, when it does the 30 second test thing. That is because the PS3 outputs in 1080p, and my tv doenst support 1080p.

What I need to do is manually diselect 1080p on HDMI. And that is where I need help. I need to navigate through XMB blindly.

After reset there should be the option to either automatically detect resolutions or to manually select them.

I dont get that option.

The solution is simple. I just need a walkthrough on a few pages on XMB, so I can select and deselect some options on my PS3.

So when you held down the button until it beeped twice the screen didn't show anything or did you get some options and then the screen went blank?

There's a trick for this.

From standby (red light) instead of touching the standby button to turn on the console, hold it down so it beeps once (console starting up) then a second time (output resolution reset).

That should set things to 480i/576i over whatever connection you're using.

Edit: too late.
