Default Is this product really worth the money spent?

Right now I have got a cheap surge protector hooked up to my entertainment center. I was in Best Buy and saw the Monster HTS-1000 MKIII power center with clean power stage 2 with 8 AC outlets, 2 coax, phone and network for $199.99. Found it cheaper on Amazon.com for $126.69 my question is would it be worth buying this product to protect my 46 Sony LCD, XBox 360, Sony BDP-S550, Sony reciever, and cable box?

Absolutely worth it! And although not many are lovers of Monster products, their Power Conditioners are actually quite good and competitively priced.

Whatever you buy, DO buy something! Protecting your equipment is a very smart thing to do.

It's worth it...... but I'd look at Panamax and Belkin also, to see what else can be had in that price range.

Whatever you decide to do, save yourself a ton of $$$ and don't buy it at BB. Check Amazon or Ebay - they are always much cheaper for those things. Retail is for suckers!

Monster is on my top 5 list of companies that will never see a dime of my hard earned money.

With that being said, if I absolutely had to buy a Monster product I would choose one of their surge protectors/power conditioners. Out of everything that Monster sells, they provide the most value.

However, I would still recommend shopping around different brands like Panamax, APC or Tripp-Lite. They will all have similarly priced products of equal or better quality than Monster. There is also the advantage of them not being cut-throat companies as well.

Alot of folks around here hate Monster for their business practices. To answer your question directly, yes you could probably find a product just as good for cheaper, but that product is a quality product and will serve you well.

Is Tripp-Lite a solid brand in this arena? Costco has a UPS from them for $100 that I've been tempted by.

Given Monster's habit of suing every possible company out of existence, I will never give them a single dime of my money.

They're a solid company with a good track record for service/reliability.

You can find cheaper most likely elsewhere. Monster might be overpriced on their cables...but the power conditioners are reasonably priced with others. I'd get something regardless to protect your equipment. I got the Monster Power HDP 2500 for $140 with employee price (use to work at Best Buy...still know quite a few friends that are still there) and the retail is $400 there. I'd say get something regardless to protect your equipment.

What's the difference between surge protector and power conditioner? I have a CyberPower 685VA Battery Back-Up surge Protector that I use for my computer and soon to be used with my HT. Is that okay for now, or should I get one of the cheap power conditioners, much like the one posted above?

Here is my surge protector.

Thanks for the info. I may take the plunge on that UPS at Costco.

If you have a Circuit City around (and their doors are still open), check them out; you may find a deal with their liquidation.

Yeah, at my Circuit City, they have the 2500 for a little more than $200.
