Okay, here is my dilemma.
I am setting up a home cinema in my front room - the dimensions of the room are 16X12. My projector should be arriving today, and my screen (100" Draper) should be arriving next week. I am in the process of selecting a receiver (looking at a Yamaha) and I already have a set of speakers. My plan is to keep the receiver, Blu-Ray player, etc at the opposite end of the screen near the projector. So, I would be running cables for the center, left and right channels across the room. I thought that might be easier than trying to run a mish-mosh of cables from the opposite end of the room to the projector. I stopped and said, "Crap! I forgot about the subwoofer!" If I place my sub at the opposite wall from the screen - near the seating and near the receiver and projector - will that be weird since the screen will be about 14 feet away on the opposite wall? Or should I look into either placing my electronics closer to the screen? Or is there a way that I can run a subwoofer cable across the room? Thanks in advance!! |

I think he's under the assumption that the sub is always supposed to be in the front, by the screen. That was my point. Quote:

For subwoofer cables, you can try Monoprice.com, but they only have a limited selection.
A better choice is Pro Sattellite Supply Comapny. They make custom RG6 cables with RCA connectors from 3 ft up to 150 ft. You can order them in white or black. Their prices are low and they deliver very fast. For subwoofer placement and other settings, see A Guide to Subwoofers and A Guide to Subwoofers (Part II): Standing Waves & Room Modes. They both have a sticky in the Subwoofers section. Part II specifically deals with problems with placement of one subwoofer and why two subwoofers are a better alternative. I will move this thread to the Subwoofers' section. Last edited by Big Daddy; 02-13-2009 at 12:25 AM. |
