I was checking out the klipsch site, and saw their new line ups, they look amazing...as far as sound, there are no reviews, just wanted to share the info with other klipsch fans, and get some input if anyone has seen in person or heard, they look awesome, but not sure how the icon series compares to the reference.
Enjoy: http://www.klipsch.com/products/deta...e-theater.aspx ( Espresso looks amazing ) |

O.K. I bought a pair of WF-35's from Magnolia in December. I had originally gone into the store intent on walking out with a pair of Def Tech BP 7006's. As I was auditioning the Def Techs, the Magnolia guy asked if I would like to hear the new Klipsch WF-35's just to compare. I was somewhat reluctant at first, but decided to give them a go. Wow! what a difference. The Klipsch put every Def Tech BP (including their 7002's) to shame. These speakers flat out play loud, I guess due to their higher sensitivity rating. (A hallmark of all Klipsch speakers). But the soundstage, brightness, nuance, sensitvity... all just plain better. You really enjoy listening to these speakers. They also look great. I have the expresso version.
I am using these in a pure 2 channel audio setup. They are powered through a Marantz PM 8003 integrated amp. I am also listening to vinyl through a Technics SL 1210 MK 5 with Shure M97xE Moving Magnet Cartridge. Realistically these speakers really don't need a sub for my application, but I walked out to the Magnolia with a Def Tech Supercube III because I got it at half price. (And it is really a sweet truly musical little sub). I cannot attest to how they would perform in a theater setting. In my theater I am running a 7.1 setup with Polks. I believe that these Klispch would be truly awesome in my theater but cannot justify the expense of a change out because I have quite a bit invested in the Polks. Luckily Magnolia had discounted this speaker down to $599 each. That also helped. Pricing aside, I can strongly recommend this speaker to anyone. This is a five star offering from Klipsch. No doubt about it. http://snobreview.blogspot.com/2008/...con-wf-35.html Last edited by FreddieFerric; 02-07-2009 at 02:47 PM. |

Agreed....I auditioned them when they first came out! Didn't like the sound at all (a pair of F-3's murdered them - a pair of less expensive Polks as well). I blamed it on breakin time. So I waited a few months and went back....It wasn't the break-in time - it was the speakers - beautiful but compared to other Klipsch offerings - lacking! Couldn't hold a candle to the RF series let alone my ugly, boxy, Klipsch Heritage series Heresy speakers. The Heritage,RF, and THX series kills the Icon series (the lcons IMHO are little boys in a nice suit).

Klipsch WF 35 speaker system is beautiful, when I purchased my speakers I looked at them because they are just beautiful. But with the help and the advice of my buddy at my ht shop I went with the reference series because of better sound.I think if you look in the ht galleries dblackgt has those speakers and could give you a better opinion on the sound in a home environment.

Remember everyone, the OP is not willing to sacrifice his current performance for looks. It's obvious that his only recourse for upgrading is the THX line, Heritage line, or if he has the cash...the Palladium line. Anything other than these is a downgrade in his current RF performance.

looks are an important factor for me when choicing a speaker... sound is just as important, im gonna demo some paradigm studio 100's this week
![]() The higher end klipsch line ups are out of reach with my ht budget, and although the cornwalls are powerful, i can't pull the trigger on a speaker that when i look at, I'm not pleased. |

I enjoyed the Studio 100s when I listened to them. They weren't my favorite speaker in the world, but they did sound pretty good, and they look awesome.

Anyways I would have to respectfully disagree. I will however say that the sound from the WF-34 is very different from the WF-35's. So being that you were not impressed with the 34's may be true, but have you listened to a fully broken in pair of WF-35's and not at the Best Buy store? I have had these speakers since August of 08' and must say they are truly amazing. The detail and clarity is unmatched from any speaker I have heard in this price range. And I don't think Klipsch gave up anything in these speakers. Yes some of the Reference series (the RF-63 and RF-83) are better but anything other than those and I think the WF-35's have them beat by a long shot. I have a friend who is in the music producing business and is used to high, reference quality speakers and he is constantly amazed by these speakers. He actually brings demo stuff over to my place to listen to these speakers in 2 Channel Pure Direct mode. He says he hears details in these speakers that he can't hear in many other brands of speakers. Now I'm not here to praise these speakers and claim they are the best things ever, but just share my expereince with them and voice my opinion. But hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I don't take offense if someone doesn't like these speakers. If anyone is debating whether or not to get these speakers or would like some personal info on them please don't hesitate to ask. -Derek |
