Agreed....I auditioned them when they first came out! Didn't like the sound at all (a pair of F-3's murdered them - a pair of less expensive Polks as well). I blamed it on breakin time. So I waited a few months and went back....It wasn't the break-in time - it was the speakers - beautiful but compared to other Klipsch offerings - lacking! Couldn't hold a candle to the RF series let alone my ugly, boxy, Klipsch Heritage series Heresy speakers. The Heritage,RF, and THX series kills the Icon series (the lcons IMHO are little boys in a nice suit).

Well it only took so long for me to find this thread haha.

Anyways I would have to respectfully disagree. I will however say that the sound from the WF-34 is very different from the WF-35's. So being that you were not impressed with the 34's may be true, but have you listened to a fully broken in pair of WF-35's and not at the Best Buy store?

I have had these speakers since August of 08' and must say they are truly amazing. The detail and clarity is unmatched from any speaker I have heard in this price range. And I don't think Klipsch gave up anything in these speakers. Yes some of the Reference series (the RF-63 and RF-83) are better but anything other than those and I think the WF-35's have them beat by a long shot. I have a friend who is in the music producing business and is used to high, reference quality speakers and he is constantly amazed by these speakers. He actually brings demo stuff over to my place to listen to these speakers in 2 Channel Pure Direct mode. He says he hears details in these speakers that he can't hear in many other brands of speakers.

Now I'm not here to praise these speakers and claim they are the best things ever, but just share my expereince with them and voice my opinion. But hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I don't take offense if someone doesn't like these speakers. If anyone is debating whether or not to get these speakers or would like some personal info on them please don't hesitate to ask.

And that's understandable No problems here - I was basiclly looking at the OP's set up and as you have stated the 63's and 83's will best the Icon's (I thought the OP has the 63 or 83's, that's why I took him up a notch . One thing that's always good - the ablility to demo speakers in your own enviornment. That's the real litmus test

Yeah its all cool and I knew what you were talking about...I've spoken with you before on these speakers. One thing I do believe that the Icons has on the RF series besides the better look is the new horn tweeter. Its not as harsh or bright sounding as the RF series. But hey that just may be me

I have to say... after having heard them a lot lately, as well as the 82's, they are more mellow (the WF-35s) but I still personally do not find the 82's to sound "harsh" or fatiguing... I like the Icons quite a bit but I would still pick anything from the 62's up from the reference line over the Icons, but the Icons are certainly a wonderful speaker.

oh and Prerich how much did you spend on your Heresys if you don't mind me asking? I was looking at the employee pricing on them and the La Scalas and I must say they are a pretty tempting buy for me.
