Unhappy Blu Ray and Europe (whats the holdup)

I've been looking to pick up either the Pioneer or Sony dedicated player for a while now. I have visited the Sony Store on a number of occassions and the staff are not aware of the release date for their dedicated players. Are Sony and the other BD supporters threating the European customers as second class citizens when it comes to technology and BD releases. I have the PS3 and love the picture quality but i have to say i am jealous of all you American collectors and the wider choice available to you. While HD-DVD is well behind when it comes to choice it feels like that both formats are not all that concerned about the European market at present which sucks.

I have purchased 14 titles so far but it seems to be taking amazon.co.uk for ever in restocking certain titles.

If we are treated bad, that I don't want to say.
That everything about audio and video hardware comes later, yes.
That BD titles come later, yes. But that's the same with dvd and even theather releases. So no worries here.

What I do tend to notice is that Europe (at least Belgium and the Netherlands) are Blu-ray minded. If you look at the shelves, the majority is Blu-ray. You have to look a little bit harder to find the HD DVD's.

Problem is I think, that we are used to the Pal system and that that system is good enough for a lot of people. In the US however, they have the NTSC and have far fewer image lines than we have. So the HigDef is a major step.

Here only the ones with a HD Ready tv sets can enjoy the highdef quality. A lot of 'older' tv's are still working fine and the television stations are only beginning broadcasting 'higher' def programs.

Give it some time and Europe will rock into High Def.

Show what you have to as many people as you can, talk about it, make people curious about the 720p, the 1080i and of course the 1080p.
