Default If I can't beat 'em, I gotta join them (or do I)??

So my current cell phone is crapping out on me, and its time to buy a new one.

I never thought I'd say this, but I think I'm going to get an Iphone.

I tried for so long not to get one. I didn't want to give into the masses and support the Apple monster. I also wanted to just support the other companies/underdogs (ie sony ericsson), but I can't find a phone in AT&T that does things better than the iphone. So alas, I guess the old saying goes "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em"

Am I wrong for feeling this way?

You're more wrong for loving the Lakers than wanting an iPhone, I'll put it that way.

No but seriously, it all depends in what you want in your phone. The iPhone is chic and fairly powerful, and I love mine. If you're looking for super productivity, there are better options out there -- both for functionality and price. That being said, I probably wouldn't get anything but an iPhone at this point if I were to upgrade (I have the original non-3G), as it does everything I need it to do, including a good amount of stuff that's work-related.

I'm with ya on that. I have been anti-Apple for soooo long. But, I must admit that they do have great toys. I'm due for an upgrade and it's come down to these phones with AT&T. I'm still leaning toward the Samsung. That damn Iphone has alot of eye candy though.

Surprised that they actually have a Sony controller in their application picture for "games"?

And why would that be? Because a lot of people are going on the bandwagon too? I've been a loyal Lakers fan all my life. I have season tickets and I always stand by them through good times and bad. And besides, there are other great teams out there, so I think it's a different situation.

One advantage of the iPhone is that it's in its second generation, while all these other touch screens are giving it a go for the first time. Be very careful about buying anything in its first generation. Remember: a two-year contract is attached. Don't get stuck with something you will quickly hate.

P.S. I love my iPhone.

Totally kidding, man! :chill: I always make fun of someone if their team is in opposition to mine, but only in a "just messin' around" sense.

Which Blackberry?

I would say the only problem with the Iphone is the high cost of the data plan. It may also be a little less durable than a phone with a smaller screen. My brother had an Iphone and the screen cracked the first time he dropped it. Now he has a Blackberry Curve and he's dropped it numerous times and it hasn't damaged the phone at all. Still, if my carrier offered the Iphone I would have bought it in a heartbeat. However, AT&T is not very popular in Iowa and isn't 3G plus my company pays for my phone so I have a Blackberry Curve and an Ipod Touch.

Default Iphone on special for Best Buy reward zone members This week only!

Not really the biggest fan of Apple and Ipod especially, but Just made the jump to Iphone myself. should be here on Friday. Was due for an upgrade and while there are lots of phones that are similar in look and productivity, I had the chance to tinker with my friends Iphone who is a big supporter and I had to admit it was pretty sweet. Very impressed and it sold me.

You can get a 8GB Iphone at Best buy for $149 this week only if you are Best Buy Reward zone member, It's only $99 if you are a silver reward zone member

The data plan is $30 for unlimited usage for the Iphone (cheaper for me because it's through my job), are there cheaper ones for other phones?

I like the bold. Only thing is it's rather pricey. Would you recommend the curve, or the 8310?

Unlocked GSM phones are everywhere. Find a nice phone on Tigerdirect and bypass having to go to AT&T to renew your agreement. Yes you pay more initially for the phone but it doesn't reset your contract.

That would have been my first choice, however I want a data plan now, so I'm going to have to get a new contract. I can't rely on wi-fi.

Add data and still go with an unlocked phone. Get the Xperia by Sony. What do you plan to do online with the phone anyway?

I like the Experia buts its way past my price range.

I'd like online access for the following reasons:

1) Need to find (and/or get a review of) a restaurant on the go

2) When I'm at a store need to buy something, I want to be able to check how much it is online to see if I get it on the spot.

The IPhone rocks, it should not be hated on. lol. I would think anyone who gets one will enjoy it, although I wish the battery life was a bit better when using the internet or music. But overall, it's a great phone.
