Default Best Use of a Song/Score in a Movie

When the music makes the moment--
Example --
Song///
My Best Friends Girl when Johnny Cash "When the Man Comes Around" starts playing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qV451k6VL4
and when "Where is my Mind" plays at end of Fight Club

Score//
In Sunshine - Capa's jump scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtbGTGCFfY0

Score: Definitely Capa's jump. Also, Tyler Bates' score in 300 really gives a certain feel to the movie. The score in 28 Days Later and Slumdog Millionaire fit the movies perfectly and are hard to forget as well (all Boyle's movies besides 300)

Yeah John Murphy does very good job on Boyle's films..
Another "score" moment for me is--
Jesse James assassination scene, the piano is beautiful

I haven't seen it yet, but if it really connects you to the film, I would look forward to seeing it. The score is a big part of what makes movies unique sometimes. Sin City and Planet Terror have amazing scores by Rodriguez.

Massive Attack's "Angel" in "Snatch" (2001)
Perfect use of the song in the scene(s) it is used in.

By far "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in the beginning of The Wizard of Oz.

Other memorable ones:

"Bohemian Rhapsody" in Wayne's World.

"Tiny Dancer" in Almost Famous.

Pulp Fiction and Boogie Nights--whenever I hear any of the songs in those movies, it makes me instantly think of its scene in the movie.

Unchained Melody in Ghost was a great moment, and one of my favorite scenes in movies, but I have to say that Toefer is right, Nothing compares to Judy Garland singing "Over the Rainbow" in the Wizard of Oz

foo fighters - walking after you

that is hands down the best song in a movie and from a soundtrack ever. no competition. it was also on a great soundtrack unlike so many soundtracks which are pretty much garbage. godzilla anyone?

Not going to make a claim for "best," but Sarah McLachlan's performance of Randy Newman's "When She Loved Me" during Jessie's montage in Toy Story 2 was a real punch to the gut...still makes me cry.

"The Ecstasy of Gold" from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. Starts when Tuco finds the graveyard and is running around looking for where the gold is burried.

(The Ecstasy of Gold is also played in the opening scene of Jackass Number Two when the cast is chased through a neighborhood by bulls)

I have four that come to mind instantly:

The Graduate----"Mrs. Robinson" by Simon and Garfunkel
Midnight Cowboy----"Everybody's Talkin" by Harry Nilsson
Dazed & Confused----Entire soundtrack but "Tuesday's Gone" by Lynyrd Skynyrd really stands out.
Road Trip----"It's Tricky" by Run-DMC
