Default Hitachi 51F510 Overscan problem

Help me!!! I'm having an overscan problem on my Hitachi 51F510 that I would loooooove to fix. The problem is I can't access the service menu. I read the manual and it's telling me to press and hold input on the control panel and then press power. Do they mean the remote or the front panel on the set? I've used both and it is not working. Does anyone know how to access the service menu on this set? I'm going to be picking up a Blu-ray player in the next few weeks and I would love for my t.v. to be in the best shape possible.

Overscan cannot be corrected through the service menu as far as I know; there are two knobs behind the front panel of the TV that one turns in order to reduce overscan on Hitachi F series TVs.

Thanks for the tip. After I would change the overscan is there anything else I might need to do? I read something about convergence and having to reset that.

Yes, convergence and probably geometry will have to be adjusted.

You're going to probably want a tape measure to ensure geometry is ideal.

I just want to caution you: you really need to know exactly what you're doing before attempting all of this. You can permanently mess up your set if you're not careful. Also, record the original settings just in case.

go to the avs forums and search for your tv! I have a Hitachi 51f59 and have found all the info you are looking for available there along with official service manuals, screen jigs for over scan alignment and a lot more! If your unsure of how to do any of this the couple hours of reading posts in the forums over there will definitely help out! good luck
