Default Is something wrong with my PS3?

Ok everything plays fine. Blu-Rays. Dvds. Games.

For some reason these are games i have experienced problems.

Resistance 2. Motorstorm Pacific Drift. Resident Evil 5. So far.

I have games like burnout...uncharted..bioshock..madden 09...call of duty 5.
None of them have this problem.

The problem is ...Lines coming from the characters...Like blur lines. Usually only in the cinema parts of the games...But sometimes in actual game play...Every crash in pacific drift you see it..Like if the character is blue..there will be blue lines coming from his face or body. Just a example.

I couldnt figure why it would do it in some games and not in others.
I took resistance 2 back..got a different copy and still same thing.

Anyone have this problem or any idea why?

I have the mgs4 80gb Ps3. Thanks

Rendering errors with weird lines coming from the models? That unfortunately sounds like a hardware problem. Specifically, it sounds like bad memory.

You'll probably need to send it in for repairs.

It's not impossible that it's caused by some corruption in the file system on your hard drive, but probably isn't. Still, you should check on that possibility since it's relatively easy along the way.

Here's the steps to take:

1) Use the backup utility to backup your PS3 internal hard drive to an external USB drive.

2) Reformat your PS3 internal hard drive.

3) With your PS3 freshly reformatted, try playing those games again and determine whether the problem persists.

4a) If it does, then you have verified that the problem is bad hardware. Contact Sony's technical support. You'll probably need to send in the unit for repair. You'll be able to restore from your backup when you get a PS3 (yours or a refurb) back again.

4b) If the problem did not persist, restore from your backup and determine whether the problem returns. It probably wouldn't, and then you'll be fine at that point.

And if it was a TV problem don't you think it would occur all the time? Even when he isn't using the PS3, like for say reg TV watching and not just when the PS3 is in use?

Yes everytime i crach on pacifict drift...blurry lines come off the racer...but only crash cinema.....in resistance 2 its worse..sometimes the lines stay hooked to the soldiers while we are fighting...and stay on the aliens.

in resident evil 5 it was only on the cinema parts...but one of the zombies had it on them when i killed him it went away....

I thought it was a ps3 problem...but why wouldnt it do this with uncharted? or burnout? uncharted has alot of stuff going on and no lines....saints row 2 and gta iv both also no problems...

Is there something different about these newer games?....but call of duty 5 works fine also....so does sf4.

just resistance 2...pacific drift..and re5...anything diff about these?

Got a camera? try to take a picture.

buuut, it sounds like geometry artifacts (wierd spikes and lines, usually connected to models) which is a problem with the graphics core. Not the video memory. Video memory problems yields white or colore snow on the screen, kind of like hundreds of dead pixels.

As for why some games and not others? Well...It may be a problem with a very specific part of the graphics core that doesn't really get stressed by those other games. If you played some of those other games for awhile though, you might be able to squeeze out some geometry errors.

But anyways, YES there is something wrong. Get it replaced, It happens
